As a certified Doula since January of 2018, I feel honored to be able to share my knowledge with expecting mothers and fathers in the central Ohio area. I am passionate about birth, postpartum and motherhood in general. I love to hold space for my clients and come alongside their vision for their birth experience. Outside of birth, i love spending time with my husband and 3 beautiful children, camping and gardening.
How I Assist
I have designed prenatal visits to be easy, lighthearted and informative. Each meeting we chat about your pregnancy goals and plans. At these meetings we will:
•Create a detailed birth plan •Discuss different resources to help you both in pregnancy/labor• Plan for postpartum
I encourage spouses to be involved in these meetings if applicable, i love showing partners how to be supportive during labor and delivery.
From 36 weeks to the onset of labor I’m on call and at your disposal. Once labor begins and you want my physical support i will be on my way and ready to utilize tools in my birth bag to help with physical discomfort during labor. I encourage partners to be involved and i help them with support techniques as well. I generally stay until about 1 hour after baby is born. I can help establish first latch too if you plan to breastfeed.
Pregnancy discomforts and birth get so much attention when a new mother announces she’s expecting. What ISN’T talked about enough is postpartum! Your whole life changes with each and every baby. I love empowering moms to reach out for support after birth. My role as a postpartum doula is to ensure you get the best information and care possible. No matter when you need me, I will be there offering support. I’ve had moms use my PP service to do everything from: hold baby while she showers, clean her home for her, do her dishes/laundry, entertain her older children while she bonds with baby and so much more. I have training and experience in breastfeeding, if you desire help in that area as well.
I offer placenta encapsulation to my clients as an additional service or an individual service. The process is simple, i pick up the placenta after birth and then clean, steam and dehydrate the placenta. Once dehydrated i add herbs and other beneficial elements and grind them into powder. I encapsulate the powder into capsules for mother to consume and return the pills to her within 48 hours. Benefits of Placenta Encapsulation:
Increased release of the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to normal size and encourages bonding with the infant
Increase in CRH, a stress-reducing hormone
A decrease in post-partum depression levels
Restoration of iron levels in the blood
Increase in milk production
